Final Cut Pro X and DaVinci Resolve are two of the most commonly used editing platforms in the world by professionals. But I wouldn't discount FCX.it might work great for you. The main difference between the two programs is that Final Cut Pro has a magnetic timeline, whereas DaVinci Resolve has a non-linear timeline, which is what the industry standard is. Adobe PRemiere Pro and Avid are viable alternatives. When you open the Final Cut Pro trial, the app tells you how many days remain before the trial expires. But I wouldn't suggest investing in discontinued, old software.
